A few days ago, there were reports that the residents of Oke Ota community in Ibeshe, Ikorodu, blocked the Ibeshe Road to protest the rape and killing of a Ghanaian resident named Grace Obinna. The woman’s teeth had been removed and she had also been raped by a man identified simply as Badoo.
Badoo had reportedly raped a number of women in the community and his latest victim was Grace Obinna, who he was said to have killed in the presence of her 14-month-old baby.
According to the Nation, the suspect was captured yesterday by some members of the community after his whereabouts was discovered. He was immediately attacked and nearly lynched by the angry residents before the police intervened. He has been handed over to the Rapid Response Squad (RRS).
The police command’s spokesperson, SP Dolapo Badmos, confirmed the arrest and released a statement saying the suspect will be arraigned today.
“The suspect is in our custody. He was arrested over the weekend. The man is a serial rapist. They said he raped and killed a woman, but police don’t have the information about him being a killer yet. He would be charged to court on Monday (today)” she stated.
